About Who's Johnny

The Band's Story....

Who’s Johnny began as a family acapella group at a very young age, originally under the name “The Monels”. Debuting their vocal talents at an audition for “The Gong Show”, they were selected to travel to California to compete on the show with celebrity judges, where they took first place. As a young group of vocally talented kids, they quickly gained attention from local radio stations and then from some of the tri-state’s biggest, including WCBS-FM with Don K. Reed and Cousin Brucie, and WPLJ with Scott and Todd. Being recognized by prominent show promoters, Who’s Johnny performed on big stages like Continental Airlines Arena, Madison Square Garden, Nassau Coliseum, and PNC Arts Center. While traveling the country, they had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of the all-time greats such as Franky Valli and the Four Seasons, The Manhattan Transfer, Jay Black and the Americans, Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals, Johnny Maestro, and more.

Time Hauser of the Manhattan Transfer noticed the vocal talents of Who’s Johnny and became their full-time manager. Who’s Johnny became the opening act for The Manhattan Transfer for many of their tours. Under the direction of Tim Hauser, Epic Records had signed the group to a record deal in the early 1990s, during which they recorded a developmental album with Tim as the producer.

Having developed into a full fledged band playing the top hits and being from New Jersey, Who’s Johnny took their act to the entertainment capital of New Jersey, Atlantic City where they performed in some of the biggest showrooms and lounges, including The Casbah at the Taj Mahal, The Superstar Theater and Mr. G’s lounge at Resorts, and the show room at Harrahs.

After being recognized by the musical director of Robert DeNiro’s upcoming directorial debut movie “A Bronx Tale”, they worked closely with Robert De Niro and Chazz Palminteri on the musical soundtrack for the movie.

Who's Johnny

As show promoters began taking their shows to the high seas, Who’s Johnny was part of many shows on major cruise lines, where they would entertain the cruise guests in the main showrooms with world-renowned artists.

Being sports fans themselves, Who’s Johnny took the opportunity to perform at major sporting events, such as singing the National Anthem at several NY Mets games and private Major League Baseball awards events, as well as performing for the National Women’s Tennis Association banquet in Maui.

Who’s Johnny has entertained many across the globe throughout the years and continues to do so today. Who Knows Where you will see them next?
